Sheriff's Office

COVID-19 UPDATE 03/12/2020:

The Ingham County Sheriff’s Office has suspended taking all fingerprints for the general public for non-court related business due to COVID-19.

When taking fingerprints as a service for the general public, customers are un-screened, have to actually enter the workspace of our records bureau, and stand directly next to our clerks. Our employees then have to handle ungloved hands to take the prints. Hands have been deemed one of the most likely ways to transmit the virus.

The Sheriff’s Office will resume taking prints for the general public at a later date after consulting with our Health Department. In addition, we will be limiting access to all non-essential persons to our facility.

In addition, in an effort to protect our population and staff the Ingham County Jail is reducing group programming and discouraging all non-essential visits until further notice. All persons entering the Jail Lobby will be asked several qualifying questions before a decision is made to allow entry. Court ordered professional visits will be permitted. Any business that can wait or be conducted via phone or video visitation is appreciated.
