School Safety

Minimize

With the 2018-2019 school year getting underway, Sheriff Scott Wriggelsworth is releasing a new safety video intended to better prepare the residents of Ingham County for an active violence incident in a school.

We all hope and pray that nothing this extreme ever happens here, and Ingham County Sheriff’s Office deputies spend a lot of time in schools, but hope is not a plan. Everyone needs to prepare for the potential of an active violence incident and have a plan for what to do before the event starts.

School safety is something EVERYONE needs to take ownership in. Staff needs to know what role they play in an active violence incident. Students need to know how they should react in order to stay safe. Parents need to support the process and trust their schools, sheriff’s office, police agencies, and other first responders to keep their children as safe as possible.
