The Ingham County Sheriff’s Office will be protoring the boater’s exam for anyone
wishing to receive a Boater’s Safety Certificate. The exam will be held in the Training Room of the
Ingham County Sheriff’s Office and are scheduled for the following dates:

A Boating Safety Certificate is required for:
Those that are 12-15 years old who wish to operate a boat powered by a motor of more than
6 hp must:
- Have obtained a boater saftey certificate and have it with them
- or . . .
- Are accompanied on board by a person at least 16 years of age.
And anyone born after December 31, 1978 operating a
Person Watercraft (PWC)
There will be a brief review of material, question and answer session, and conclude with the
proctored exam.
There is no fee for the proctored exam, however, the online DNR course does charge each
student $29.50 for the course completion pre-certification certificate which makes them eligible for the
